Buccaneers React to Latest Baker Mayfield News on Monday
Buccaneers React to Latest Baker Mayfield News on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made the playoffs in five consecutive seasons and have won the NFC South in each of the last four—despite some years where the division was notably uncompetitive. Nonetheless, they're coming off a 10-7 campaign in which they lost star wide receiver Chris Godwin for the season. After a Wild Card Round loss to the Washington Commanders, Tampa Bay is once again placing high hopes in Baker Mayfield to lead the way. Mayfield is coming off a career year, completing 71.4% of his passes for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He posted a 106.8 passer rating, and on Monday, the Buccaneers reacted to the NFL's reveal that Mayfield has officially been ranked No. 50 on the NFL Top 100 list. "LFB," Buccaneers posted. "@bakermayfield makes his Buccaneers debut on the Top 100 at 50." Bucs fans reacted to Mayfield debuting on the Top 100 list: "he should've been top 20 are we serious," a fan said. Someone else added, "Well deserved." Another person wrote, "Dare I say top 6 QB." "BAKER GONNA BAKE," one more fan commented. Baker Mayfield has had a very interesting journey throughout the NFL since being drafted No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns in 2018. He spent four seasons with the Browns before brief stints with the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams—moves many believed might signal the end of his time as a starting quarterback in the league. However, Mayfield found his footing in Tampa Bay, where he's since become the franchise quarterback and has played like it over his first two seasons with the organizationThis story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 4, 2025, where it first appeared.

Teddy Bridgewater back in the NFL, to sign with Bucs
Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz and Caroline Fenton react to the news that the veteran quarterback will return to the pro ranks to play for his eighth NFL team and third in the NFC South. View more Video Transcript We got breaking news. Veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is visiting Tampa today, expected to sign with the Buccaneers, per sources. Bridgewater's eighth NFL team, his third NFC South team, to go along with the Saints. Caroline, I would just say that I think this is important. There are not a lot of backup quarterbacks in the NFL you can trust. Tampa obviously believes they're in a win-down mode. They go out and get somebody that they know can, can step in and be a backup for them. And, and that's, I think what the story really is here: I view Teddy Bridgewater as one of the more reliable backups in the NFL. Now, I don't really know what's been going on. He was a high school football coach, then he was under investigation for impermissible benefits to his athletes, you know, whatever that story may pan out to be. At least what Tampa is getting when they view the division that they're playing, and they very much so view themselves as playoff contenders, just continue to give yourself some insurance, and that's exactly what Teddy Bridgewater gives them. I'm just wondering what Teddy Bridgewater's closet looks like. Like, obviously, whenever you play for an NFL team, you get a ton of gear and you get the sweatshirts and the T-shirts and the sweatpants and the shoes. Like, Teddy's collecting a whole lot of teams gear. Like, do you keep it? Do you drop it off at Goodwill? Like, do you wear your old team stuff? Is it just collecting dust in your closet? Like these are the questions I have, Bits. Yeah, I, I have a, a person I know, I won't say a buddy, uh, that worked for the Raiders and was let go during one of their many, uh, changeovers as an organization, and he talked to me about the fact that he, he and his family boxed up all of the Raiders stuff and gave it to Goodwill, and I just thought, why is that not the Goodwill I walked into one day? Like I'd walk into it and be like, I'll take it all. Like it's all the team official gear, like Teddy Bridgewater, you're right, could probably absolutely clothe an entire boys and girls club across the, uh, across the state, uh, with all of the gear he's got.
